If you're a client of mine you already know better than to set up your QuickBooks to automatically install new updates. You only have to get burned once, and I've been there, so my clients to know that updates shouldn't be installed until at least 1 week after they come out.

As of today, still no fix. Intuit has put out some details on the specific R4 update errors from its blog (http://blog.accountant.intuit.com/?p=3745):
