Hold Off on the R4 Update to QuickBooks 2011

If you're a client of mine you already know better than to set up your QuickBooks to automatically install new updates. You only have to get burned once, and I've been there, so my clients to know that updates shouldn't be installed until at least 1 week after they come out.

  1. As of today, still no fix. Intuit has put out some details on the specific R4 update errors from its blog (http://blog.accountant.intuit.com/?p=3745):
"When using the Reclassify Transactions tool in Client Data Review after installing R4, the Name column is either blank or displays unexpected information. For example, a check written to a particular vendor may show no name in the Name column, or the Name column may contain the Customer: Job information from the Expense line on the check."
