W-2 Due Date: April 2, 2012 (if you e-filed)

If you used an e-file service (see options below) for your W-2's then your deadline is extended to April 2, 2012 IRS Instructions for Forms W-2 and W-3
"If you file using paper forms, you must file Copy A of Form W-2 with Form W-3 by February 29, 2012. However, if you e-file, the due date is automatically extended to April 2, 2012"
As a note for anyone who says it's "ok" to print the form online file it, or photocopy forms, read this: "This form is provided for informational purposes only. Copy A appears in red, similar to the official IRS form. Do not file copy A downloaded from this website with the SSA. The official printed version of this IRS form is scannable, but the online version of it, printed from this website, is not. A penalty may be imposed for filing forms that can’t be scanned"

  1. I use the "send" in QuickBooks reports to send W-2s and W-3s and it free it is free. Hopefully they make the 1099s like that soon.
