This year's grads are ready for their internships/externships May 14th, and some lucky companies will get 150 hours of free labor. I sit on the Technical Advisory Committee of the 990-hour, 3-quarter-long Computer Based Accounting (CBA) program at the Seattle Vocational Institute and I can tell you that these students had 9 months of classes including QuickBooks (of course). The catch is they need supervision and specific, clear directions. If you don’t have time for that then it’s not going to work for you now; check back at the end of the next grad cycle.
These grads do a 150-hour “externship”If you do have time then these grads want to learn every aspect of the bookkeeping cycle and will gladly do anything from filing to mailing to Excel projects and QuickBooks data entry. Says externship coordinator Janie Gallaher: "Please consider having a student apply their skills in a real office environment. This opportunity will give them valuable experience, and may give an employer the opportunity to hire a skilled employee." Janie's number is (206) 516-3188.
